This offering is ONLY for those who have taken and did not pass the CMBP exam. Please allow up to 24 hours after your initial attempt to be granted access to purchase this retake.

You must wait 7 days from your last attempt before sitting for the exam again.

The Certified Master Building Professional (CMBP) credential recognizes experienced industry professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a commitment to the highest standards of residential construction. This product provides registration for the CMBP proctored exam, the first step in the credentialing process.

Exam Details:

  • Format: 100 multiple-choice questions.
  • Time Limit: 3 hours.
  • Delivery Options: You may choose to test from home using live remote proctoring or visit one of the thousands of approved Meazure Learning testing centers nationwide.
  • Scheduling: Upon successful registration and payment, you will receive instructions to schedule your testing session. Appointments are available for any time after April 1, 2026.

Retake Fee (if needed): $99.
 

The Application Process:

Achieving a passing score on the exam is the prerequisite for the formal credential application.

Note: The application must be purchased separately.
 

Application fees:

  • NAHB Member: $199
  • NAHB non-member: $299
     

One-Year Completion Window:

  • You have one (1) year from the date of your passing score to complete the online application process.
     

Submission Requirements:

The application is completed via the NAHB credentialing portal and requires documentation for the following:

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of five years in a leadership role at a residential building or remodeling firm.
  • Professional Development: Documentation of 50 hours of broad-based qualifying education completed within the past five years.
  • Business Verification: Proof of insurance and active business or contractor licensing.
  • Referrals: Three client or industry referrals.
