High Performance Building: Building Science

This course is designed to assist the participant to develop a foundation of the principles of buildings science. Understanding the principles of energy flow, moisture migration, air flow, and their relationship to each other in and around a building are key to designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings. This course will examine each of the principles, their relationships and both the positive and negative outcomes with an eye to durable, healthy, and efficient homes.

From participating in this course, participants will:

  • Discover the importance of understanding Building Science.
  • Examine the principles of energy flow, moisture movement, and air flow.
  • Examine the Hygrothermal Relationship between all three.
  • Demonstrate the impact of building science principles on energy efficiency, durability, and occupant health.

 

Course Length: 6 hours

 

This course is required for the Master CGP designation and is one of the required courses for the GMB and GMR designations.

 

NAHB Continuing Education: 6 hours for the following designations: CAPS, CGA, CGB, CGP, CGR, CMP, GMB, GMR, Master CGP, Master CSP, MIRM.

This course is registered with AIA CES for continuing professional education and qualifies for 6.00 LU Hours.

 

The National Association of Home Builders is a Registered Provider with The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems.  Credit(s) earned on completion of this course will be reported to AIA CES for AIA members.  Certificates of Completion for both AIA members and non-AIA members are available upon request.
