Cost Effective Home Solutions to Increase Water Efficiency

Water shortages in the southwest and other arid regions have led to specific regulations for home builders and owners, and water quality in other regions is a driver of waste management and water usage rules. This module from NAHB will examine the current impact of hydrologic management on home building and explore strategies -- from the macro level to the individual home -- for site design, plumbing fixture selection, and rain water collection. The level of content in this module is for the novice learner.

What to expect from this module:

• - What is your understanding of water regulations? In this module, you will examine current trends and rules to increase water efficiency.
• - Knowledge of water quality is fundamental to your water conservation endeavors. You will distinguish reusable water types to determine water conservation capabilities.
• - Additionally, you will review different water conservation programs to help you come up with the most cost-effective home solutions to increase water efficiency.
• - After taking this module, you will be able to describe how to effectively implement strategies for large scale and site development, as well as for individual homes.
